Patoranking is a Nigerian born singer and song writer who was born Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie on the 27th of May 1990, in Ijegun Egba, Alimosho area of Lagos State to Mr and Mrs Okorie.
He originally hails from Ebonyi state in the eastern region of Nigeria; he grew up in satellite town and Ebutte meta all Lagos his state of birth.

The singer had his education at Citizens Comprehensive College Epe and at Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School in Iponri. Growing up wasn’t rosy for patoranking as he started doing menial jobs at an early age to survive.

While receiving his award at the Headies 2014 he mentioned in his speech that he had worked as a brick layer and hawked rat poison as a means of survival, he also mentioned while trying to encourage young people that he lived with his entire family in a one bedroom apartment while growing up in Ebutte Metta.
Patoranking Music Career
The singer started his career as a street jam and carnival dancer, he danced at shows, carnivals, converts and other shows and met many artists in the course of it. He ended up collaborating with some of them like Slam and Reggie Rockstone. In an interview with Entertainment Express, Patoranking explained that his moniker was given to him by a Jamaican reggae artist he met at Alpha Beach in Lagos in the early days of his career.
The singer who describes his music as a morally inclined variation of dancehall communicates love and socio political issues in his songs, his style of music is influenced by Blackface, Baju Banton, Tuface, Blackky, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Lucky Dube, Chaka Demus, Majek Fashek and Marvelous Benjy.In 2010, he got signed to K’Solo’s record label and released a single “up in D Club” under the label. By 2012, he released another single that was a combination of dancehall and fuji beats titled “Iya Bisi” it featured Qdot and Kbaj who helped him compose the song.
In 2013, he became a protogee of Timaya’s Dem Mama Records, he collaborated with Timaya to release his next single “Alubarika” which translates to the Blessings of God. With this single, he captured the attention of many and began his journey to fame as many people got to know him for the first time as a good reggae artist and they began to look forward to more music from him. Alubarika was the singer’s expression of gratitude to God for how well his journey as an artist had turned out at that time.
He signed a new record deal with Foston music in 2014, after ending his affilaitions with Timaya’s Dem Mama Records. He released his back going single “Girlie O” produced by WizzyPro under his new record label and made a video for it. The video which was directed by Moe Musa and shot in london communicated a need to end domestic abuse in relationships, it was also a pointer to victims of domestic violence on the need of summoning courage to leave absuive relationships while they can.
The remix of “Girlie O” which featured the first lady of the Mavin Dynasty Tiwa Savage turned out to be bigger than the actual song. Both the audio and the video were so good that it topped music video charts and gained massive airplay on radio.
